What I’m doing now
updated December 3rd, 2025, in Singapore
Third trimester, third time around
We’re approaching the home stretch with baby number three! Between refreshing my knowledge on newborns and redownloading hypnobirthing apps - I’ve been weighing Singapore versus Malaysia for the birth to ensure this little also gets his Sarawak citizenship. The second trimester energy surge has officially left the building, but at least I got good news form the doctor: no gestational diabetes this round either - woot!
Designing with AI, sharpening taste
As we continue to push the Gen-e2 methodology at work, I’ve been thinking deeply about what it means to design with AI. The fundamentals haven’t changed - it’s still about creating real value for users - but the flood of possibilities AI enables means taste and good judgement are more important than ever. I’m also building expertise with new tools and figuring out what actually fits into my workflow versus what’s just shiny and new.
New website: minimising friction, maximising writing
I’ve migrated my personal website from Webflow to a Notion-based builder. Webflow became too much of a blocker, and given I open up Notion every day - I’m hoping this will finally get me writing more regularly.
Reading widely
Just finished Karen Hao’s Empire of AI - a sobering reminder about the wider impact of the technologies we build and what happens when scale goes unchecked. No matter how exciting an industry is, we need to stay grounded. I’ve also started Roar by Stacy Sims (can’t believe it took me this long to learn how menstrual cycles affect daily energy) and finished Glennon Doyle’s Untamed, which made me tear up with how she writes about staying with the ache of love and loss rather than running from it. On the beautiful-books front, I discovered Chiltern editions and couldn’t resist ordering Dorian Grey - too gorgeous to pass up!
Moving weights, feeling strong
Ash and I have kept up our weekday workout routine since COVID, and we’re back on a weights programme. It feels good to have that post-workout burn in my arms especially when most days I feel the opposite of energised.
Getting our affairs in order
I’m finally tackling legacy planning - something I set out to do this year but kept pushing aside. Now that work is slowing down for the holidays, I’m learning about fara’id law and nuzriah deeds. E and I want to ensure funds are designated for the kid’s education, which likely means setting up a trust that works within Islamic inheritance laws. Still figuring out the details.
Performance season
Most weekends lately involve year-end performances - A as a tree in the school play, D at the piano (tears beforehand from nerves, but he made it through), his drama showcase. More performances still to come over the next few weeks.
